I give up. I’ve tried being as patient as I could, but you know what ? I can’t. Many friends of mine are ranting about it, many friends of mine have been hurt by those words. Just like many people on the fandom are ranting about it, and many people on the fandom have been hurt by those words too. I’m no exception. And I can’t take it anymore.
You know what ? It’s going way too far. It has to stop.
First of all, do you realize how strong the word “hate” is ? Do you even realize it ?
Claiming like that that you all hate Ryoma like it’s a new fashion tendency, spreading hate and insults about him in the whole fandom wrongly thinking that you are the voices of wisdom, and then hurting a lot of fans (not only Ryoma fans, but also fans who care) in the process because you are too blind and too immature to understand that you aren’t the center of the world and that not everyone feel the same way as you do… It’s not okay. IT’S NOT.
What are you in the fandom for, is that to spread hate ? Is that to hurt other fans ? Is that to make people feel bad about the characters they like ? Is that to make them hide their feelings for the said characters, scared of being judged ? If you are, then, you know what, you’re not welcome.
You have the right to dislike a character. That’s true, you have the right to despise all the characters that you want. Of course you do. Now, why would you go that far and spread hate ? There sure is a difference between explaining in your opinion, politely, with respect and thoughtlessly why the characters you despise are not great and why you dislike them; and blindly write down insults without considering other people’s feelings, being harsh and make a mess of the situation. You have to understand that there are limits “doing whatever you want because you feel like it”. There are limits that shouldn’t and mustn’t be crossed. Tumblr or not, freedom of speech or not; if you’re here to hurt other people, then we don’t need you here. Imagine people insulting and spreading hate about your favorite character this way. Would you be happy with it ? Would you think it’s okay ? I sincerely don’t think so.
Echizen Ryoma is the main character. You knew that. We all knew that. It was the case at the very beginning, it’s the case now and it’ll always be the case. So yeah, we get to see him everywhere. Pretty normal I would say, why would it be different ? Because you dislike him ? As sad as it might seems for you, things are not going to change because they displease you. Accept it.
Konomi-sensei decided to pick Ryoma as the main character. Yup he did. And it’s his choice. Now you can be annoyed by it. You can disapprove of his choice. You sure can. But respect him, respect the fans, respect the fandom; and be careful with the words you use.Hate is certainly not the solution.
