Unforgettable Episode: 跡部からの贈り物「Atobe’s Gift」
For me, Atobe is the most selfless person in Hyoutei, if not the entire series. He might strike people as an arrogant, conceited jerk. Atobe is all of those above and he boasts about his wealth half of the time, but he’s always more than willing to spend so much for the sake of his team, peers and for everyone precious to him. This movie unarguably support my statement, and does it in a very touching manner. Kabaji and Atobe’s friendship had never really been discussed in the series, but this episode blatantly shows Atobe’s utmost gratitude to his childhood friend— yes, gratitude. It’s not something that Atobe would typically do. Yet, he evidently did show it in front everyone, even those who has little or no connection to him. He is proud of it and didn’t try to cover it. He is proud of having Kabaji by his side all the time. He even threw such a fancy party in order to comfort Kabaji, who was not in his best state. Although he doesn’t usually show any expressions, Atobe knows that Kabaji is not a robot. So, he thanked him for always following him and putting up with him. He is willing to get into so much trouble in order to express his affection for his childhood friend.
